First dazzling session of the year

I met with Sean last night to go Dazzling for waders. It turned out to be a quiet night with only 4 birds seen and 1 Sanderling caught.

It was a first year bird (hatched 2010 somewhere in the High Arctic)

Manx Ringing Group

The Manx Ringing Group operate under licence by the IOM Government's Department of Environment, Food & Agriculture and its ringers hold a current permit issued by the British Trust for Ornithology.
Chris Sharpe is the Group Leader and Kevin Scott is the group secretary. Sean Gray and Dave Sharpe are the other resdident ringers and a small handful of regular visiting ringers ring on our behalf when they are on the Island.
Any ringers planning to visit the Island should contact us to sort out the details as a seperate licence issued by the IOM Government is required to ring any birds on the Isle of Man.
The group do a varied range of ringing from Chough, Cormorant, Gull, Mute Swan, Twite and Rock Pipit colour ringing projects. Tape-luring Storm Petrels, Wader/Tern ringing, woosh-netting finches, nest recording including several nest box studies and general garden ringing.
