Mute Swan to Cumbria

I have just received some information from the North West Swan Study group, which we are a part of, with some re-sightings of one of our Mute Swans seen twice in Cumbria last Summer.

Mute Swan 'J21' was ringed as a first year bird on 11th January 2011 in Ramsey harbour, Isle of Man. It was then seen in Ramsey on the 30th January and again on 3rd March.
It has then been seen in Parton, a coastal village just North of Whitehaven, Cumbria on 08th July and then seen at Ravenglass, to the South of Sellafield on the Cumbria coast on the 06th August.
Then, this Winter it has been seen back in Ramsey harbour on 25th & 31st January 2012!!

It will be intersting to see if it returns to the Cumbria coast this Summer. Our thanks to the observer in Cumbria - Mike Mills.
